After nine years, The Ramblin’ Roses have decided to plan another fun-filled day trip to Pella, Iowa!! On Thursday, May 2, 2013 we’ll leave from The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine at 7:30 a.m. and head to Pella, Iowa for Tulip Time to experience tulips, parades, food, fun and much more. We’ll travel back in time to a European village full of windmills, tulips and excitement. The cost for this day-long excursion is $45, which includes transportation, Dutch Costume Style Show, Chocolate Demonstration, Tip Toe Through the Tulips and lunch. Please enjoy the various food delicacies that are offered throughout the day, because supper will not be included. Below you will find the morning’s itinerary:
7:30 Estimated time of Departure from Muscatine.
10:00 Dutch Costume Style Show-”Models” may be hand-selected to walk the runway modeling costumes from several provinces.
Chuck Van Veen’s Dutch Chocolate Demonstration-Chuck will personally entertain us as he shows off his Dutch Chocolate candy-making skills and there will be SAMPLES!!
“Tip Toe Through OUR Tulips”- Here we will get hints and tips on planting and growing tulips followed by a strolling tour of the tulips blooming throughout Central Park.
12:45 Authentic Dutch Meal served by wait staff in traditional Dutch costume at the Pella Memorial Building.
After Lunch and until 4:30 p.m., you will be on your own for the activities of your choice. Listed below are some of the activities that will be occurring. You also may want to spend the afternoon visiting the hundreds of vendors and doing a little shopping/sightseeing of your own!
1:00 Dutch Cheese Market Re-enactment - 90 minutes
Street and Stage Entertainment
Street Scrubbers
Tulip Queen Coronation
Dutch Dancers
2:30-4:00 Volks Parade - afternoon parade with floats, bands and many Dutch specialty attractions.
4:30 Back to the bus to head home!
7:00 Estimated time of return to Muscatine.
