Obituary for Robert R. Vance

Robert R.  Vance
Robert R. Vance, 86, of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at the Hospice of Arizona DWIPU in Sun City West. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Following services at the funeral home, burial will be in the Peniel Cemetery in New Boston, Illinois. Casket bearers will be Robert Saffell, William Hedal, Craig Hedal, Jeff Madsen, Eric Lausen and Bill Hedal. Visitation for Robert will be Friday, February 24, 2012, at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home at 4:00-7:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2025 East River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55414, in Robert’s name. Please write donations on envelope. Robert Roy Vance was born on February 25, 1925, in New Boston, Illinois, the son of Frank “Roy” and Ethel (Braucht) Vance. On September 28, 1945, Robert was united in marriage to Willie Mae Herron in Muscatine, Iowa. Robert was a long time member of the Masonic Order. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, boating and music, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.

Robert will be deeply missed by his wife, Willie Mae of Sun City West, Arizona; his children, Bonnie Jean Hedal and husband, Bill and Sandra Kay Johnson and husband, Mark; his grandchildren, Robert Saffell, William Hedal, Craig Hedal, Rebecca Lausen and Tammy Madsen; and his eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Washburn of Strawberry Point.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Mort; and one sister, Ruth Britton.
