Obituary for Nancy Kay Yakish (Jarrard)
Nancy Kay Yakish, 73, of Lone Tree, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree. Mass of the Resurrection for Nancy will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Mary’s Church in Lone Tree. Fr. Kneemiller and Carol Kaalberg ,Parish Life Administrator will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Colin Yakish, Jacob Sexton, Harrison Miller, Taylor Tucker, Steven Yakish, and Philip Yakish. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Robert Yakish, Caleb Kruse, and Harmon Miller. Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American legion. Visitation for Nancy will be held on Tuesday, April 17, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Nancy Kay Jarrard was born February 27, 1939 in Lone Tree, Iowa, the daughter of Leo R. and Iva M. (Westaway) Jarrard. On September 15 1955, Nancy was united in marriage to Robert Bernard Yakish at St. Mary’s Church in Lone Tree. She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, the Iowa City Moose, the Altar and Rosary Society and a past member of the Lone Tree Fireman’s Auxillary. She had worked as a day care provider, kitchen supervisor and cook at the Lone tree Health Care Center, and HyVee Floral on 1st Ave. She enjoyed sewing cooking, making homemade noodles, crocheting, flowers and going to all her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Nancy will be deeply missed by her children, Randy Yakish and his wife, Liz of Lone Tree, Robert Yakish of Lone Tree, Tom Yakish and his wife, Theresa of Kalona, Kelly Tucker and her husband, Scott of Lone Tree, Trisha Sexton and her husband, Rich of Lone Tree, and Laura Miller and her husband, Scott of Lone Tree; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Grace Yakish of Solon.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son David, parents, Step-father Harry Jarrard, Step-brother Bill Jarrard, brothers-in-law Jim and Gerald Yakish, and sister-in-law Jean Jarrard.
