Obituary for Donna Lee Van Acker (Hunter)
Donna L. Van Acker, 70, of West Liberty, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at her home in rural West Liberty. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation rites were facilitated by the Family Care Services Life Transition and Cremation Center in Muscatine, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established in Donna’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donna Lee Hunter was born on March 3, 1942 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Colberg) Hunter. On July 17, 1959 Donna was united in marriage to Merlin Royce Van Acker in Iowa City. Donna was a farm wife and a custodian for Muscatine Schools for 32 years. She enjoyed flowers, mowing, going for motorcycle rides, fishing and traveling.
Donna will be deeply missed by her son, Russ Van Acker of West Liberty; five grandchildren, Dustin and Elizabeth of Muscatine, Christopher and Abbigehl of West Liberty and Baylee of Waterloo; four great grandchildren, Alexandra, Kaylee, Xzander and Xzavian, all of Muscatine; one sister, Arlene Ricklefs and her husband, Richard of Muscatine and one brother, Melvin Hunter of Muscatine.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on September 3, 2008, one brother, Marvin Hunter and one sister, Verna Cottrell.
