Milton E. Diveney Jr.
Milton E. Diveney, Jr., 81, of Conesville, passed away, Saturday, February 22, 2014, at his home in Conesville. Funeral services for Milton will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial will be in the Conesville Cemetery with full military rites. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Allen Wright Hanft Post #100 American Legion in Columbus Junction. Visitation for Milton will be held on Thursday, February, 27, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Milton. Milton Emmett Diveney, Jr., was born on June 11, 1932, in Rodman, Iowa the son of Milton Emmet Diveney Sr., and Frances Katherine Sophia Mortensen. Milton worked for American Petroleum before and after serving with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Milton was united in marriage to Barbara Kuhn on December 21, 1957 in Lone Rock, Iowa. Milton then went to work for Thatcher Plastic in Muscatine. He was a member of the Marion Gospel Assembly in Marion, the Allen Wright Hanft Post # 100 American Legion in Columbus Junction and the N.R.A. Milton was an avid WWII history buff and enjoyed traveling and camping all over the United States with his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Milton will be deeply missed by his wife, Barbara of Conesville; children, Candy Dearmore and her husband, Dale of Wellman, Milton Emmett Diveney, III “Sonny” and wife, Melissa of Brighton and Paula Jacobs and husband, Ronald of Columbus Junction; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Dilts of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Sandy Brown and husband, Scott of Fredonia; four brothers, Daniel Diveney and wife, Diane of Trenton, IL, James Diveney and wife, Karen of Fairport, Michael Diveney and wife, Lonna of Keokuk and Patrick Diveney and wife, Fina of West Liberty.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, Jo Anne Peck and her husband, Greg, brother-in-law John Dilts and sister-in-law, Judy Diveney.
