Obituary for Paul Lee Reed

Paul L. Reed, 76, of Conesville, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Casketbearers will be Wayne Davis, Dusty Allison, Larry Leonard, Billy Wade, Shane Leach and Christopher Gatton. Honorary Casketbeaers will be Lonny Small Jr., Kirk Andereas, Gavin Wade, Parker Wright and Nate Parks. Interment will be in Klein Cemetery. Visitation for Paul will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Paul’s name. Paul Lee Reed was born on March 20, 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Harry and Mabel (Caterson) Reed. On August 5, 1979, Paul was united into marriage to Evelyn Solomon. Paul was an entrepreneur, painter by trade and had owned and operated the Redwood motel and resturant. He was a member of the Painters Union, Moose Lodge, Dads Club, FFA. Paul enjoyed Farm History, antique cars, animals, his goats, going to the Iowa State Fair, spending time with his children and grandchildren and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and White Sox fan. He enjoyed the simple things in life and was a hard worker.

Paul will be deeply missed by his wife, Evelyn Reed of Conesville; seven children, Mark Reed of Davenport, Sherry Leonard and husband, Larry of Muscatine, Laurie Freeman of Muscatine, Kathy Schrier of Iowa City, Angie Parks of Davenport, Jenny Reed of Davenport and Matt Reed and his wife, Kristin of Altoona; twelve grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marlyn Ask and her husband, Robert of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jerry; and two sisters, Elaine and Norma.
