Obituary for Ronald William Martin

Ronald William  Martin
Ronald W. Martin, 81, of New Boston, Illinois, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at his home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Casket Bearers will be Jake Elliott, John Elliott, Rick Martin, Brad Nelson, Mike Miller and Jordan Miller. Interment will be in Eliza Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2nd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Ronald’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Ronald William Martin was born on October 5, 1933 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of William H. and Ellen H. (Martin) Martin. On April 15, 1955 Ronald was united in marriage to Jeanette L. Woodward in Eliza, Illinois. Ronald had served in the U.S. Navy and then enlisted in the Navy Reserves. He worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 4years, but spent most of his life farming. He also found enjoyment in deer hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ronald will be deeply missed by his wife, Jeanette of New Boston; children, Ronald William Martin, Jr. and wife, Rita and Terry Ellen Martin, all of New Boston and Kevin Charles Martin and wife, Kathy of Muscatine; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Nelson and husband, Brad, Jaime Current, Richard Lee Martin and wife, Megan and Samantha Martin; 9 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Sharon Martin and wife, Betsy of Muscatine.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and son, Curtis Lee Martin.
