Addison Junior "Ike" Murphy
Addison “Ike” J. Murphy, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Lutheran Homes Assisted Living. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. with a Celebration of Life to be held at 11:00 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Immediately following the service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Inurnment will be in Conesville Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday with military rites by the combined units of the VFW Post 1565 and American Legion Post 27. Addison Junior Murphy was born on January 17, 1926 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Addison Perry and Ada Belle (Musgrove) Murphy. Ike had proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. On December 1, 1956, He was united in marriage to Pauline Mae Warnstaff in Rock Island, Illinois. Ike retired from HJ Heinz in 1998 after many years in the maintenance department. He had attended Washington Baptist Church, was an avid Packers fan and enjoyed playing bingo and cribbage, fishing, bird watching, and getting lost with daughter, Becky.
Ike will be deeply missed by his children, Richard Estabrook and wife Connie, of Muscatine, Becky Grimm of Shellsburg, Cindy Smart of New Hampshire, Roger Murphy of Cedar Rapids and Brenda Gray and husband, Chuck of Mondovi, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Sheila Estabrook of Fruitland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Jean Murphy.
Ike was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Ron Estabrook; son-in-law, Clyde Grimm; eight brothers, Harry, Ed, Dave, Floyd, Glenn, Bill, Earl and Faye Murphy and three sisters, Grace McCartney, Eva Misel and Bertha Murphy.
