Obituary for Mildred Mary Murphy (Ledl)

Mildred M. Murphy, 92, of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Lutheran Living in Muscatine. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Mildred’s arrangements and her family.

Mildred Mary Ledl was born on May 6, 1922, in Buckingham, Iowa the daughter of Emil and Anastasia (Stehnova) Ledl. She married Robert J. Murphy in March of 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1999. She and Robert lived and worked in Waterloo, Iowa for most of their adult lives, moving to Muscatine in 1997 to be closer to their daughter.

Mildred will be deeply missed by her children, Kathryn McMains and husband, Melvin of Muscatine and Robert Murphy, Jr. and wife, Jody of Belmont, California; two granddaughters, Kimberly Reesink of Muscatine and Lindsay Williams of Charleston, South Carolina; one grandson, Michael Murphy of Belmont, California; two great-granddaughters, Natalie and Abigail Reesink; one great grandson, Owen Williams and one sister, Anna Ortman of Dysart, Iowa.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters.
