Obituary for Jeffrey Charles Koehler

Jeffrey C. Koehler, 66, of Letts, formerly Illinois City, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Premier Estates in Muscatine. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 1-3:00 P.M. at the Muscatine American Legion Post #27 located at 110 S. Houser Street. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Jeffrey’s name. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Jeffrey’s family and the arrangements.

Jeffrey Charles Koehler was born on January 25, 1949 in Logan County, Illinois, the son of Harold V. “Hap” and Phyllis (Rector) Koehler. On May 2, 1987, Jeffrey was united in marriage to Rita Ann Etter in rural Illinois City. Jeffrey was a 1967 graduate of Rockridge High School, attended EICC-Muscatine and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during 1969. Jeffrey was a lifetime truck driver and farmer. Jeffrey was a member of the American Legion Post #27 and the Providence Baptist Church. He enjoyed trucking, farming, driving the antique Army truck in the local parades, socializing at the Legion and spending time with his beloved cocker spaniel Buck.

Jeffrey will be deeply missed by his wife, Rita Koehler of Letts; children, Lisa (Lee) Elder of Muscatine, Troy Helsley of Muscatine and Mindy Mann of Letts; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Chris (Alta) Koehler of Illinois City and Chad Koehler of Lincoln, Illinois.

Jeffery was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Roy and Nola Rector and William and Bessie Koehler.
