Obituary for Marjorie Mae Van Camp

Marjorie Mae  Van Camp
Marjorie M. Van Camp, 85, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011, at her home in Muscatine with a family member by her side. Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Pastor Jim Turner will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at a later date in the Harker Cemetery, in rural Muscatine County. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Marjorie and cards may be sent to Susan Johnson at 2317 University Drive apt #4 Muscatine, IA 52761. Marjorie Mae Moran was born on June 23, 1926, in Fruitland, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar William and Marie Alzadia (Hahn) Moran then moved to the West Liberty area. Marjorie graduated from Muscatine Community College with A.A. in Elementary Education and Marycrest College with a B.A. in Elementary Education. On December 16, 1945, Marjorie was united in marriage to James H. Van Camp in Muscatine, Iowa at the Sweetland United Methodist Church. She was a member of MARSPA-Muscatine Area Retired School Personnel Association, 65+ year member of Sweetland United Methodist Church and the Sweetland United Methodist Women, Bloomington Grange, Lady Elks, Muscatine County Farm Bureau and a retired member of the Muscatine Hospital Auxiliary. Marjorie enjoyed watching the Game Show Network, Chicago Cubs, Hannity News Show, American Pickers, Molly B. Polka Music Show, Lawrence Welk, being the Hostess-Teacher of the Melpine Country School House at the Wild Cat Den State Park in Muscatine, playing card games, working on crossword puzzles and she loved talking to anyone who would listen about when she was a school teacher and the vacation trips their friends took with her and husband, James. Marjorie loved to spend time with her family, close friends, and neighbors.

Marjorie will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Susan Johnson of Muscatine and Joanne Hute and her husband, Randy of Muscatine; grandchildren, Eric Hute and his wife, Tina of Arizona, and Shawn Houghton and her husband, Michael of Muscatine; great grandchildren, Megan, Jayden and Allison Houghton of Muscatine; step-great grandchildren, Melissa Dorrell and her husband, Kenneth of Washington, Tyler Welker of Muscatine; and step-granddaughter Mariah Staats of Muscatine; two sister-in-laws, Karen Moran of Muscatine and Grace (Peggy) Powell and husband Richard of Arizona; niece Joyce Tulliani of Muscatine; nephew, Jim Moran of Donaldson; niece, Lori Ford and husband, Bruce of Arizona; nephew, Rodney Hetzler of New Liberty; nephew, Jerry Jacobs and wife, Lois of Calamus; three god-children, Barry Sauer of Wilton, Vickie Hampton and husband, Terry of Texas and Scott Sauer and wife, Jane of Muscatine; along with great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many lifetime friends and neighbors.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in April 2011; brother, Harold Moran; and niece, Judy Moran-Meincke.
